The European Guess Convention took place in Barcelona’s Hotel W – fabulous hotel location right on the shore line spectacular views of Barcelona’s coast .
I was there as the leader of the photographic team covering the Convention which had 500 guests from all over Europe.
As you can imagine Guess had taken over the hotel with Guess posters on main doors and showing videos of their collections all in all an impressive image of Guess power greeted the Convention guests on their arrival.
One of the highlights was a retrospective exhibition of Guess advertising campaigns spanning the last 30 years which used top models Claudia Schiffer ,Leitita Casta , Evandro Soldat, Heide Lindgren just to name a few and well knownphotographers such as Alix Malka , Ellen Von Unwerth, Bruce Weber etc
The Convention started early in the morning getting straight down to company performance during the last year with presentations from the various team leaders from different departments. I am always impressed how multinational companies manage to control their enormous staff and affiliates around the globe and give their staff the sensation of belonging to one gigantic family.
The company’s president Paul Marciano was especially pleased to show their latest ad campaign, Japanese Holiday – collaborating with photographer Chen Man. Again Guess heads to Japan for an Eastern inspired shoot. The models are Megan Williams and Karmay Ngaia as they travel from the fields of Tokyo to the foreground of Mount Fuji. A fabulous commercial & still shots.
I had the pleasure of working with the company for a couple days and it was a power-packed experience seeing how a company of that size manages its personal and external projection.
The highlight of the Convention was the presentation of next season’s clothes and a fashion show, followed by an amazing party.
A great experience which I thoroughly enjoyed.
